This is my final contents page. 'In The Mix' i got this font from a website called dafont.com which allows you to download fonts.
There is a gap in the middle of the features, otherwise you wouldn't be able to see the smaller images face.
Also i have added a gutter to the page, to make it look more professional and conventional.

This is how i manipulated the image in photoshop. To the background i added a lighting effect, which gave the effect of the colour getting darker towards the edges.
To the chain i added an effect called lens flare which allowed special lighting effects on the chain.
With the second image, I deleted the background. Then i reduced the opacity to a lower level, to get that effect.

The music genre of my magazine is hip hop and rnb, and the magazine i am imulating is hip hop collection.

The name for my magazine is going to be rhythm collection, as it is catchy and connotes speed, and hip hop is fast paced music, making my title relevant.

Analysis of NME front cover

New
Musical
Express

NME- ENERMY sounds similar to enermy which is subversive/rebellious.

The house style of this magazine is its straight in your face, not shy, non judgemental as it is not opinionating any of the articles. Also it is rebellious through the language, mise en scene and also the bold striking typography which sticks out to you.

Image also follows the style of rebellious as she is smoking however by the showing of the flesh connotes sex appeal, that although the magazine might be hardcore there is also sex appeal in it. The main focus is on the women which suggests that she is the main leader of the band, and the fact that the man is touching her belly makes it provocative, which also ties in with the straplines, 'twisted love.' Also the image is taken from an high angle shot, and looks like the singers are lying down and she is looking up, which again promotes sex appeal and comes across provocative. However this shot has not achieved its aim of making them look vulnerable as they are strong and in your face. Also she's got hae hand around the masthead which shows she is familiar with them and also makes her cool by doing that.

Again the use of expletives, ' F***ed up' and hardcore language suggests that the magazine is rebellious. Also it has an exclusive story, however have not used the word exclusive directly on the magazine as they know that the magazine will sell, as the exclusive article they do have will sell on its own. It was a famous band whose lead singer died as he commited suicide and he was a legend. So by nme talking to their manager will bring in huge amount of readers.

The magazine is conventional in its use of 2-3 colours. The use of red and black with the bold righting again makes it striking and hardcore. The typography also has rigid edges and connotes subversive.

The genre of this magazine is punk, electronic, rock, and underground.
It's audience would be people into alternative music as this magazine has many musical genres. You can tell this from the front cover as the image represents it.

The main image is of a rock band called Good Charlotte. This relates to the main image as they produce eloctronic and punky type of music, so the audience could quickly recognise them and pick up the magazine. The image is of all four members of the rock band who are dressed in black, with funky hairstyles. This again relates to the audience who can quickly relate to them. One of the members has really extreme spikes which connotes loud and exitement, and also can catch the readers eye from far.

The colour scheme for this magazine is unconventional as they have used 4-5 colours throughout the magazine. However it has worked to their advantage as it connotes

The genre of this magazine is hip hop and the target audience is people into hip hop

Evaluation

Evaluation

My media product uses conventions as it is has strap lines and a kicker, also it has a mast head, which are all conventional of a magazine. Also it has a main image which appeals to the audience of the magazine.
The media institution, which would distribute my magazine, would be the sports industry as my magazine is aimed at basketballers and therefore would allow easy sales for the sports industry. The audience for my magazine is pupils aged 15- 18+. I have aimed the magazine at them by using a pupil playing basketball, on the front cover, and strap lines giving tips and scholarships competitions which would attract young players interested in developing their skills and interested in taking their sport to the next level.

I have learnt that manipulating an image is not straight forward, as it seems, as you have to make it blend in with your strap lines and portray the same message. For example, using an image of a pupil playing a sport but used fancy curvy writing would clash, as it would appeal to the audience. Instead you should use bold writing or something. Therefore planning is essential.

This is my final magazine front cover and also i have done my magazine contents page.

This is my edited image which i am going to use on my magazine front cover.

i have erased the side of the picture, and got rid of the lighting and windows, but i have left the other side of the picture which shows the basketball hoop

This is the image i have taken, to use on my magazine front cover. Now all i need to do is edit it and then start to add my straplines.

Planning practice magazine

I am going to produce a magazine for Lordswood Girls School and the theme for it is going to be basketball. I have choosen this theme as it is relevant to our school and easier to access to take images off.
The potential images i could use is a basketballer dunking the ball into the net or a team picture of the squad. Others could include just a hand throwing in a basketballinto the hoop. It is important to get a good picture as it will reflect your magazine before you read anything on the magazine. Also the image is what draws the redaer in, as it is the first thing they see, therefore a magazine needs a good eye catching image.
I am going to produce my own logo, which i will manipulate in photoshop. My logo will consist of the school logo and an image to represent the basketball academy, so maybe a basketball. However i might not use the school logo but just manipulate a basket ball but i'm not too sure about this yet.

Dwell Magazine

I was given a draft of a magazine called dwell, and i had to alter it into my own magazine front cover, appealing to my own target audience and choosing my own colour schemes.
I used an image of the net, which i edited in photoshop to get the right effect i was looking for. This front cover is made up of roughly 3-4 layers in which the image is on layer 2. On the first layer is my mast head which i have covered with the model as the magazine is well known by its audience and therefore don't need to see a full masthead.
The colours i choose were bright yellow and oranges as my target audience is people of Keiras era, 20-30 ish, and it would stand out more to them.
For the kicker i have used the Keria Knightley story as it relates to the image. The straplines are also conventional as they run along the side of the magazine. Also i have used the barcode in the bottom right hand corner which is conventional of a magazine front cover.
Also i have used a price, which is on layer 3, also covering the mast head, and quite big to show that the price for the magazine is essential as it is at a reduced price and that is a unique selling point for the magazine.
